How dare they…
At a time where Fiji has more important things to think about, Khaiyum starts lighting up again.
Telling an association of highly respectable foreign lawyers that they would be “trespassing” on Fijian soil by doing their analysis of the current human rights and legal situation in Fiji. Too bad that he’s too damn unqualified and unethical to make that club.
Fiji has just been in the middle of a cyclone with extensive damage throughout the country. The country is recovering and getting back to normalcy. But he’s just running scared knowing that the cases coming before the court system in Fiji will severely test the principle that “law and order” have been maintained.
Check out the analysis on Soli Vakasama regarding the situation. Great analysis there at the end.

Bringing sexy back
I’m trying out a new theme for those of you out there. I noticed that some thought the font size of the comments was too small.
Going for a flowing sexy minimalistic design.
Let me know what you guys think.

Stay safe people
As Cyclone Gene has unleashed on Fiji, I hope that everyone is safe and sound. Make sure you protect your belongings and keep an emergency kit (i.e. food, water, first aid) in case you have to evacuate quickly with your family. I’ve got mine and its ready in case the next Cyclone bears down on us. Keep your kids away from any downed power lines
or flooded areas.
Seems like the regular drill but just making sure that all you guys are alright.
P.S. Last time I heard, it looks like the RFMF and interim government are going to blame the devastation of Cyclone Gene on the ousted (but still legal) SDL government. They corrupted the country, now they are corrupting the weather.

Not an article to scare you.
I see this site receives quite a few visitors per day. The days in Fiji are sad, lonely and despairing.
But the light of my day is to see your comments and insights when I log on daily. It really does make my day and that of a lot of people who visit this blog.
So if you visit, please leave comments. It definately keeps me going everyday. And it will show those in power that some of us are brave and courageous enough to keep fighting on.

Chiefly system may be removed - but how?
We all have seen and heard the rumblings about the future of the Great Council of Chiefs. That it will become reformed with patsies representing the Vanua who will serve the likes of Bainimarama and Chaudhry. Who are willing to sell out the possessions of generations for a few bowls of grog.
But chiefs may not be “removed” by the current powers by simply removing them and reappointing new members. You might find the Vanua turning on those chiefs who have been deceitful, lied and aligned themselves with this illegal regime.
Thats right. The chiefly system may be under threat by a new generation of Fijians who have seen their leaders and chiefs sell out to the highest bidder (Chaudhry + Bainimarama + Taxpayer money). They see their chiefs complicit with the enemy telling them whatever they want to hear so a few bucks get transferred into their bank accounts. They see their land and the accumulations of their forefathers being whittled away for convenience and money.
Case in point: Ratu Jo Nawalowalo.
You might find that secretly his people loathe him but they are too blind to see they are taking them for a ride. All these promises. All these blanks he is firing. When this is all over, his own people will see what a monster he has enabled.
He’s not the only one. You know who the rest are. The council and media articles are stacked with them.
You be the judge.

Truely disgusted
I read the Fiji Village and the comments of John Samy (Sami?).
He calls the council and the resulting Charter as true democracy. Real democracy will be formed.
How dare a former citizen who lives in New Zealand who does not feel the effects of a coup tell the rest of the Fijian population that this is democracy? How dare a person who lives a life in relative comfort (even more now with his current role) tell people who have lost their jobs, livelihoods and lost their pay increases that I will tell you how democracy is?
Moreover, I dare him to visit the Vanua in the real Fiji. Not Suva or Lautoka. But to go to the grassroots and explain to them, “I’ve taken your rights to vote and redistributed it to someone else”. I would like John to explain to them, “I will tell you who you can vote for, who will run for parliament and what you will do”. I think you might find that the Vanua will pick up their cane knives and chase him to Nadi or Nausori airport.
As is becoming more and more prevalent in Fiji, people who were former citizens are now finding the “Fijian” in them. The one they left behind. More and more of them are telling the grassroots and patriotic Fijians who have stayed behind that because they live thousands of kilometers away, they are entitled to boss them around and make policy decisions at a whim.
Guys like the brother of Attorney General. So much for complaining about Fijian graduates not being able to get jobs. A journalist with no business experience is in charge of the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation. One who lived overseas and suddenly found his calling because of some certain solicitations.
Now his censorship and approval of articles tell you how great the RFMF and interim government is. Shame that an old institution such as the FBCL has turned into a mouthpiece for all these foreigners telling us what to do.
I am truely disgusted.

Who needs to earn one?
A job is hard work. You’re supposed to prepare a CV, cover letter and make an immaculate first impression. You nail the interview and take the psychometric/intelligence tests.
Not for that damn National Council thingy. All you have to do is wave your hand, say you want to “move Fiji forward” and grease Bainimarama.
Fancy that $100 per day for your membership of the council. Ratu Jo must be thinking that he can take 50 $2 taxi journeys where ever he wants. Just out of curiosity, what constitutes a “day”? Weekdays, whole weeks or time spent while in council? Whatever the answer is, who is paying for it? The average Fijian is paying for this farce. Bloody hell.
Lets take a look at whats happened. The military and tow complained that the SDL was going to bankrupt the country and was using the money for corrupt purposes. Note none of this has been proven. Then we form a council to solve Fiji’s ills. Which is caused by the military takover. Stifled economy, job losses, rampant corruption, nepotism, human rights abuses and the rest.
So they form a council to solve what they caused. Godamn circular causation.
The composition of the council looks like the regular cadre that have been the voices of support towards the RFMF and interim government. Some unusual faces like Mick Beddoes. Hard to believe that someone who laid the law down to the interim government now joins an “arm” of it. Maybe he’s there to keep it honest. Or there for the money. I can’t tell with most people that hang around that scene but way to compromise on your principles.
But note the inclusion of individuals such as Chaudhry and Khaiyum. Nice little salary topup isn’t it? This is on top of their secret cabinet allowances which of course haven’t been disclosed. Note that the latest news I have on this is that the actual topup of approximately 8-10% over what the SDL government ministers were paid in 2006.
So if the council lasts a year and get paid $100 daily, its the equivalent of a FJD $36,500 salary. If only paid in weekdays, then its the equivalent of FJD $26,000. If there are 35 members that is about $1.3 million for a daily salary and $900,000 for a weekday only salary
I bet you the public service unions and their members must be blowing their tops and hitting the roof. They are struggling to make ends meet while some randoms come and take their hard earned money. They were denied their COLA which was to compensate for inflation and other factors, but were told there was not enough money.
Don’t believe this whole spiel that Bainimarama and Chaudhry are going on about regarding land rights. Saying there will not be any change to the status to native land.
It is based on strong evidence that the conversion of native to state land is to be discussed. Insiders say that the current Land Use Commission is a prelude to the real deal. This is designed to entrench coup supporters on native land and then convert the title whenever it is suitable.
It seems far fetched but rumblings in the background from the Chaudhry camp and some Indians suggest that this is very likely. Always read the fine print guys. Because it may bite you when you least expect it. If they can’t get it using the Council and or the People’s (Military) Charter, then see some random promulgations or other fancy ways of doing it. I REPEAT, always make sure you read the fine print.

Chaudhry - wants to cash in
No surprises about the title. Shocking isn’t it.
Except the fact that every Fijian has known it from day 1.
This latest gem is regarding yacht visits into Fiji. Apparently they are useful conduits for drug running, prostitution and not paying duty. Limiting their stay. All you are doing is turning away people who are willing to spend money in Fiji and pump in necessary funds into the economy.
But of course if Chaudhry has put has finger in the pie saying that these people are not genuine tourists.
Another valuable industry bites the dust. Sad isn’t it. Ventures such at yacht stays which benefits a lot of grass roots Fijians have been ripped up from under them. Instead sugar gets a massive injection to save its communist rooted state. Valuable marinas such as the Vuda one and the Suva yacht club must be ready to club Chaudhry right between the eyes. Their livelihoods have been ripped up from under them.
Unfortunately because of the Chodoman, hard working Fijians will lose their jobs and tourism will once again take a hit.
Lets move on to the reason for the reduced visits. Apparently its due to all the evils that yachties bring into Fiji.
TAKE A HINT FUCKWIT! YOU HAVE NO BLOODY EVIDENCE. Everything that the interim government has accused pretty much all of Fiji of, has been based on rumour and smear. None of it is backed up by any hard facts. Again I believe someone has probably gone and complained to Chaudhry. And with much delight and glee, he has seen it as either a money making venture or chance to stamp all over the Vanua. A bit of both in my opinion.
But another important point has to be made. Chaudhry is earning NO REVENUE from all these activities. If drug smuggling, prostitution and taking local flora and fauna were legal, Chaudhry would be making yacht visits permanent. He would be reaping taxes from the working girls, crazy underworld drug lords and foreign poachers. They would be his allies in his back pocket.
But to be honest if people are smuggling drugs and ‘pimping their ho’s’ without paying tax to the Chodoman (or Chodopu$$), bloody hell let them. At least they wouldn’t be funding the Chaudhry family buying property overseas and lumping large sums of cash in foreign bank accounts
* I hope people can see that last statement was tongue-in-cheek. And if the Chodopu$$ happens to read this, this could be another Fiji Water or Punja money making scheme. You could see legalised drugs, prostitution and poaching legal in Fiji.

Aziz - fails at most things, here’s another one
If the good Colonel wasn’t stupid enough, he just went and did it again.
Fancy that, repossessing those houses under Australia-Fiji defence program. The Australians merely suspended the program. They didn’t complete it. In fact its far from complete.
But according the warped version of Colonel Aziz’s English, he seems to think they have been returned. I would really like to see him reposess the houses of the deputy head of mission, defence attache and other embassy personnel. I dare you Aziz, I double dare you.
Yeah thats what I thought. Chicken shit.
Its really sad that the joint Australia-Fiji defence program had to be suspended. Unfortunately for Aziz and the rest of those chicken shit officers, a proper professional army doesn’t want to hang around with a bunch of loutish cry babies who harass civilians. The Australians probably taught these guys really well but of course Bainimarama offered them some lovely carrot to seal the deal.
I can imagine we can expect some rubbish from Aziz the terrorist mouthpiece such as “We are making the necessary arrangements with the Australians to facilitate the transfer”.
Or my favourite. “The houses have not been used efficiently. Bainimarama demands efficiency. So we’ll move a bunch of lazy RFMF pricks in to utilise the house for grog sessions and late night debauchery”.
But the other more important point is that military officers have begun moving into these houses. Tell you what, its all about reward for the RFMF. Stick your head up Bainimarama’s arse and once you come out the other end, you’ve got a lovely house on Domain Road. This has been planned for a while and now its coming to fruition.
Just for Aziz, he needs to realise that not everything in life is free. In fact when you face a court of law son, you might find that to defend yourself against charges such as treason, you will need a lawyer. And out of your own pocket.
Except you’ll be able to do so with that with all the money you’ve been given (more like stolen). Especially from the Regimental Funds account.

The RFMF - Hero to Zero
*Note: This is only my personal opinion on the matter. It does not reflect the opinion of other freedom bloggers. If you have a friend or family member in the RFMF and you are against to coup, no offence should be taken.
It is really sad that a small island nation in the Pacific with little, should be held hostage by the very people that swore to defend it. Rabuka started it, Bainimarama continued it. Its a crying shame. My interest in the RFMF has been further spurred lately by an article in the New Zealand Herald. There was an article stating that Bainimarama was seeking to address the issue. Unfortunately he can’t see his own shit that he is stepping in.
Over the years since the “Royal Fiji Military Forces”, the RFMF has degraded from a first-class professional army to a rag-tag bunch of misfits. Officers were once trained at the highest standards and troops forged their fearsome reputation in combat.
Fijians have been fighting wars even from the tribal days. They fought as proud sons of the Empire in the World Wars. The Malayan jungle and communist insurgents did not stop the Fijian infantryman achieving such amazing success.
However over the last 20 years, Fiji’s military forces have degraded into some sort “thugs force”. Rabuka started it. He connived and convinced the Vanua he was doing something big for them. All that came was that the Mara’s and Ganilau’s kept their mantle of royalty. The ordinary man and woman realised their livelihoods were set back and they had lost out. Fancy that, everyone getting suckered in so that the two families above reinforced that they were born to rule. One for the ages methinks.
Then fast forward some years later. Bainimarama arrived on the scene. His own troops tried to kill him after they had been personally threatened and were angry that Bainimarama had “overthrown” the very Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara himself. To be honest, throughout this whole kerfuffle, I’m really not sure who is innocent. In fact, every party was guilty as hell as far as I’m concerned. The whole CRW saga in itself was highly embarassing for Fiji as its crack troops mutinied when their country needed them the most.
It is well known that Bainimarama has a underlying disdain for special forces units. He hated the fact that the CRW troops (like the SAS of Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain) were paid more, got their own special armory, specially equipped barracks and equipment. To this day, he always showed a deep down hatred of the Police Tactical Response Group. To him, they were special forces with their “special status” as accorded to them by Andrew Hughes. And it showed when the coup was on. Those poor bastards holed up at their barracks could do nothing but surrender their arms.
And this disdain for special forces shows in the current composition of the RFMF. The senior leadership are hardly befitting for senior officers. You’ve got the overweight Tikoitoga and Teleni. The incoherrent Leweni. The masochist Driti. The terrorist Aziz. And the number one ‘tard’ of them all Bainimarama who reckons to uphold the law you must break it as many times as possible. Now in the RFMF, if you are fit and work hard for what you do, its a bloody crime.
Junior officers can’t motivate their own troops and the senior leadership gives them the idea that slouching and gaining stuff by the barrel the gun is okay.
Troops are no longer disciplined. They don’t train or keep fit. They don’t help fix the potholes in the road or clean up the rubbish off the streets. They sit inside their barracks while their pay gets either delayed or increased to buy their loyalty. The examples of overweight and uncaring troops around Fiji are just endless. I have walked around Suva and seen these guys hassle people or sit down doing nothing.
One pair of troops had fallen asleep on duty with their rifles next to them. Someone could have picked up their rifles and walked off with them.
Examples like this show how the heroes of the past, have gone to zero.
I did find it interesting that the RFMF just before the coup took place showed off their military might by staging night exercises. It was a veiled warning to the lurking Australian forces sitting just off the coast. The ordinary infantryman of the RFMF should realise their chances against troops like the Australians and New Zealanders are slim at best. At their current rate, they barely have the ability let alone the willpower to take on troops who are highly disciplined, fit and well trained. The Royal Australian Air Force would have destroyed the RFMF on the ground before it got a chance to mobilise. Again Bainimarama threatening a foreign country with superior firepower shows his immaturity as a Commander and human being with common sense.
In the worst case Bainimarama was prepared for the epic showdown (should it have occurred). I reckon the senior leadership would have ditched their troops at the critical moment, leaving their minions at the mercy of F/A-18 Hornets, LAV’s, SAS and the rest in tow.
The senior leadership has most to answer for in the RFMF. The officers and soldiers of old would have stood their ground and fought the battle as per orders. This current lot would ditch their posts and get on the first boat out of there.
