Treasury – fact or fiction
The latest release by Aziz saying the RFMF serving overseas didn’t get paid just left me in stitches.
Either they have no money (which is pretty evident given all the cuts going around) or they just can’t deal with a simple financial transaction. Surely paying soldiers which happens so often can’t be that bloody hard. No matter what the case is, incompetence is the name of the game.
I am really curious to know how much reserves the Fijian treasury has at this moment. For some reason, I just don’t believe Chaudhry and his budget. Because there is so little accountability, the figures given could just be bluffs and money could be flowing elsewhere. Which I think is the real truth.
Although I know one thing is for sure. The amount spent the RFMF and interim government on their vendettas against the assassination (yeah right) plotters, political opponents, civil suits and the like must be just racking up the bills. Considering they have got the likes of Christopher Pryde who must be charging a fortune for his services. And Gerard McCoy and the rest in tow.
Didn’t Khaiyum mention something about the interim government setting aside $1 million dollars for litigation and cases against it? I think when this is over you might find that the government legal bill will stretch into the tens of millions.
Bet your bottom dollar on it (literally)!

Natewa’s question
Natewa Prince posed an important point in relation to my post on citizenship.
“If dual citizenship were to be granted to the kulinas who have migrated overseas, would they be allowed to vote in our general elections?????????”
Quite simply, yes. If they are Fijian citizens, they can vote in any election. Conveniently, the constitution says so. Just about the only time the RFMF and interim government follow it.
Don’t just dismiss it. The balance of power will not be Fiji itself. The majority will want the RFMF and interim government out for good. But will there be a tipping point for former Fijian citizens. It will just depend how many votes (pro-coup v anti-coup) will go either way. Just hope and pray for the future of Fiji, that if this does happen that the anti-coup Fijians get out and get their citizenship. Then vote in strong numbers.
Its the only way given the way Fiji is going at the moment.
