Narrowing the field, increasing the benefits
When some rugby groundsmen paint the touchlines a bit closer together, it is said to weaken the backline (mainly the wings) and strengthen the forwards.
Thats just whats happening in Fiji now. The interim cabinet has been shrunk but the benefits gained by the illegal ministers has increased.
Don’t give me this bullshit that they are only collecting one salary. They are collecting a salary for each ministry they are responsible for. I know from inside sources that the salaries being apportioned to each interim minister has been given a “top-up” beyond what ministers were being paid prior to the coup. Because its hard getting information consistently, from what I can tell this top-up is around 5-7% above the previous salary level. The gist of it is that as of September 2007, this is accurate. Lately, it has been a bit of a grey area.
Got COLA? Looks pretty similar to what civil servants were promised by the SDL.
The whole line from Chaudhry that they saved money is bullshit. He can’t even forward the evidence to prove this. Chaudhry pulls a figure out of mid-air and its gospel. Yeah right.
Also note that the amalgamation of ministries is rather bizzare. Generally you tend to keep ministries separate if they are not relevant. Not in this case. Lets just lump ministries together so they save money. Not that simple. Amalgamating may get of a few salaries but backbone within the ministry is still there. The core employees are not going to change.
I will discuss the almost fucked up attempt to amalgamate ministries tomorrow.

Dob in to receive
Thats right.
Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi’s latest initiative to help the clean-up process. Setting up a ministry hotline so you can dob in people for “misusing” council vehicles and other property.
The question is, how are people coming to these conclusions? I can tell you there are lot of jealous people in Fiji who would just love see payback against their rivals. Its funny despite the multitude of allegations flying left, right and center, evidence of this stuff is just fairydust. The supposed mountains of evidence of corruption was all for us to view but sadly all of it is just heresay and opinion. Surprising? I think not.
But getting back to the problem at hand. Ahhh, the councils. Vayeshnoi thinks its his perogative to clean up and tell people what to do.
Message to Vayeshnoi, the second rate blower: NOT YOUR FUCKING PROBLEM!
The council people are elected by their constituents. If they don’t like their performance, they will vote them out. The people don’t start presenting arms and deciding to clean it up. I just loved how he made that vitriol laden speech against the SDL and their followers when addressing those RFMF graduates. Your tough when you’ve got goons with guns but otherwise you’re too scared to face anyone.
One day people like this will get their comeuppance. Violence against these people would be childish and equally as abhorrent as what they are doing now. Seeing Vayeshnoi squirming behind prison bars thinking about he has ripped off so many people including the ratepayers of Fiji would be punishment enough.
