Please leave comments

Not an article to scare you.

I see this site receives quite a few visitors per day. The days in Fiji are sad, lonely and despairing.

But the light of my day is to see your comments and insights when I log on daily. It really does make my day and that of a lot of people who visit this blog.

So if you visit, please leave comments. It definately keeps me going everyday. And it will show those in power that some of us are brave and courageous enough to keep fighting on.

Chiefly system may be removed – but how?

We all have seen and heard the rumblings about the future of the Great Council of Chiefs. That it will become reformed with patsies representing the Vanua who will serve the likes of Bainimarama and Chaudhry. Who are willing to sell out the possessions of generations for a few bowls of grog.

But chiefs may not be “removed” by the current powers by simply removing them and reappointing new members. You might find the Vanua turning on those chiefs who have been deceitful, lied and aligned themselves with this illegal regime.

Thats right. The chiefly system may be under threat by a new generation of Fijians who have seen their leaders and chiefs sell out to the highest bidder (Chaudhry + Bainimarama + Taxpayer money). They see their chiefs complicit with the enemy telling them whatever they want to hear so a few bucks get transferred into their bank accounts. They see their land and the accumulations of their forefathers being whittled away for convenience and money.

Case in point: Ratu Jo Nawalowalo.

You might find that secretly his people loathe him but they are too blind to see they are taking them for a ride. All these promises. All these blanks he is firing. When this is all over, his own people will see what a monster he has enabled.

He’s not the only one. You know who the rest are. The council and media articles are stacked with them.

You be the judge.

Truely disgusted

I read the Fiji Village and the comments of John Samy (Sami?).

He calls the council and the resulting Charter as true democracy. Real democracy will be formed.

How dare a former citizen who lives in New Zealand who does not feel the effects of a coup tell the rest of the Fijian population that this is democracy? How dare a person who lives a life in relative comfort (even more now with his current role) tell people who have lost their jobs, livelihoods and lost their pay increases that I will tell you how democracy is?

Moreover, I dare him to visit the Vanua in the real Fiji. Not Suva or Lautoka. But to go to the grassroots and explain to them, “I’ve taken your rights to vote and redistributed it to someone else”. I would like John to explain to them, “I will tell you who you can vote for, who will run for parliament and what you will do”. I think you might find that the Vanua will pick up their cane knives and chase him to Nadi or Nausori airport.

As is becoming more and more prevalent in Fiji, people who were former citizens are now finding the “Fijian” in them. The one they left behind. More and more of them are telling the grassroots and patriotic Fijians who have stayed behind that because they live thousands of kilometers away, they are entitled to boss them around and make policy decisions at a whim.

Guys like the brother of Attorney General. So much for complaining about Fijian graduates not being able to get jobs. A journalist with no business experience is in charge of the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation. One who lived overseas and suddenly found his calling because of some certain solicitations.

Now his censorship and approval of articles tell you how great the RFMF and interim government is. Shame that an old institution such as the FBCL has turned into a mouthpiece for all these foreigners telling us what to do.

I am truely disgusted.
