Where was I?

A lot of the coup supporters this time round have asked this question quite a bit.

“If you oppose this coup, where were you in 1987 and 2000?”

Typical. Trying to divert the illegal activities of their heroes and dump it on to those who know better.

If you really want to know…

In 1987, I was only a baby. Not even a year old. Yeah, I’m going to crawl up to that snake Rabuka and publically oppose him. What did the coup supporters want me to do? Throw a rattle at him and all those lame nationalists who wanted to cash in.

In 2000, I was a bit older and wiser. I knew a bit about the coups from my parents who told all about the troubled past of Fiji. I was 13. I saw what was happening in Fiji and could not believe my eyes. Fiji, an island paradise was falling into the abyss. There was George Speight who walked around with bald head thinking he was god. And Bainimarama who was control of his ever powerful military but was too busy shitting himself and not bothering to do anything (apart from overthrowing Ratu Mara).

Now I am a lot older. A young man who is free and happy (well not quite). I understand the situation a lot better. I understand what Fiji has been through and what is going through now. I am sick of it.

I bet everyone is too.

Think of the children

Whenever I watch The Simpsons, I always think of the wife of the Reverend Lovejoy. Whenever Springfield is in dire ’strife’ and the mob congregates, she always says “Won’t someone think of the children?”.

At this point of time, someone should really think of the children in Fiji.

From the youngest who won’t understand what is going on to the older ones who have lived through 2000 and are more aware of whats going on. This must be hell for them. Their future is being torn up and moulded into disgusting new shapes by the RFMF and the interim government.

Their education has been lopped off with the Ministry of Education receiving less funding and the uncertain future of receiving more. The places where they are to be nurtured and bought up in shows them awful realities. Their role models such as rugby players or educated Fijians in top places have been replaced by the military and undeserving, lamu individuals.

The RFMF and their enablers are giving a poor example to these children. They are telling them “If you don’t like something or someone, beat them up and threaten them until you get what you want”. The future of Fiji is dire not because of the ‘tards’ in power but the legacy of what they will leave them. The lessons that they are parroting on the airwaves day after day. They are trying to mould the future to believe in their ways.

But the children of Fiji must be shown the way. They must be shown that peace can exist in Fiji. They must be shown that all races living together in harmony is possible. They must be shown that democracy works and their voice counts. You must encourage them to work for things in life. Going to university or learning a trade should be actively promoted in the house. Once they learn this, then they will know that what is going on in Fiji is plain wrong.

If your children are being taught by their teachers that the RFMF and interim government are good and gracious, I would have a word with them. School is not the place for your children to be indocrinated with this tripe. Their sports coaches and extracurricular leaders should not be doing this either.

I would rather listen to a 5 year old Fijian child give me tips on how to run Fiji than some dickwad like Bainimarama who would ‘force’ me to believe in his ideas. The ideas running around the heads of our sons and daughters are the most valid. They are the most pure and relevant.

The imploding begins

FDN just posted a gem off Fiji Live. Seems as though Teleni really wanted to put Bainimarama in a very small place indeed. This confirms what we have been saying all along.

Nasir denies coup claim slams superior
Fijilive – 09 FEB 2008

A senior Fiji police officer has warned he will take the deputy police chief to court over reports he had complained of a coup plot against Fiji’s interim Prime Minister.

Assistant Police Commissioner (Crime) Nasir Ali has denied writing a letter to PM Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama alleging that Commissioner Esala Teleni and his deputy Eroni Antonio were intending to commit a coup.

In a memorandum addressed to Antonio and hand delivered by Ali to the media yesterday, Ali warned Antonio of serious consequences if he doesn’t produce the document.

Ali said that he has written to lawyer Rajendra Chaudhry asking him to look into the matter.

“I am now considering appropriate action against you (Antonio) until and unless you are able to produce such documents which you are claiming that I have written to PM,” Ali said in his memo.

He also denies being demoted as a result of his alleged action, saying Teleni “has made it clear that I am responsible to him and not anyone else and he has publicly made statements that he did not issue any such directive”.

Ali accuses Antonio of vengeance against officers directly under him and said that he is directing them “not to comply with your illegal and vengeful directive” to be transferred.

Ali also said if the need arises he will use all his powers to seek a restraining order against Antonio.

He adds, that his recommendation to the authorities resulted in Antonio’s promotion to the post of Deputy Police Commissioner last year.

Alt wants Antonio to offera “satisfactory reply” by next Monday or face court action.

Comments are being sought from Antonio.
